This is the final chapter and the conclusion of Episode 4. Close quarter corridor fighting against foot soldiers leads to a huge open area underwater where you’ll do battle against an experimental weapon in the rush to launch the space shuttle
Chapter 5 consists of two areas.
AREA 1
Objectives
1) Find and activate 5 dataposts
2) Navigate corridors to reach lowest level
The first area consists of a network of corridors so it can be confusing if you don’t pay attention to the numbers above the doors. There’s 5 dataposts to activate here and you’ll encounter opposition from heavily armoured foot soldiers with VS weapons and Battle Armour and VS Suits, as well as some Sepia Akrid on the lower corridors.
When the mission begins you’ll see that doors are labelled 1-01 etc for the first level. Grab the battle armour in room 1-01 before you continue. While you move through these corridors you’ll encounter plenty of foot soldiers but with your team of four they’re not much opposition. Because the fighting is at close quarters, shotguns and machine are the perfect weapons to begin with and grenades are useful as many of the soldiers will be grouped together and appear when you open one of the many doors. There are three levels that move down to the ground floor. To move down from level 1 to level 2 look for the door labelled 1-A Labarotory, follow these down, 1-B, 1C and you’ll get to level 2, you’ll find level 3 easily from here.
Here’s how to find the dataposts:
Datapost 1 – Room 1-00
Datapost 2 – Room 1-03
Datapost 3 – Room 1-07
Datapost 4 – Storage 2B
Datapost 5 – Through door 3-06 and down the corridor
LEVEL 1
Light opposition from foot soldiers.
LEVEL 2
On the way down to level 2 you’ll encounter spawn pods of the walls and some Sepia Akrid. Still no need for heavy weaponry here, as long as you’re bunched together you should see them off with light weaponry. Medium opposition from Akrid in two of the rooms. You’ll see them in storage jars. Shoot the jars and then let rip. You’re better off waiting for all your teammates to be in the same room as you.
LEVEL 3
Tough opposition. If you head straight in Room 3-01 you’ll find a VS Suit. As you move through door 3-06 you’ll come up against heavily armed soldiers with battle armour and a VS Suit that will kill you with one shot if you’re not careful. Use the VS Suit here, or pick up disc grenades/rocket launcher that are lying around. When you reach the lowest level and activate datapost 4, the area is complete.
AREA 2
1) Find the control post to activate shuttle
2) Activate 4 dataposts
3) Fend off and destroy spaceship (boss battle)
This is a large area to explore with multiple levels. You’ll start off at the top and work your way down. You’ll jump into some water first of all and rather handily there’s a T-Eng Regenerator ready for you to top up! The control post you’re looking for is right on the lowest level, situated SE of the final datapost, datapost 4. It’s hard to describe where each of the datapost are due to the multiple levels. Remember they do show up on your map, so if you’re stuck circle the peripheral of the facility and you should see them flag up on the map. If the Yellow marker is slightly faded it means you’re on the wrong level, so drop down or use one of the ladders or your grappling hook to go higher or lower. You’re underwater here so you can also jump and swim a little, but make sure you don’t jump out of the confines of the facility otherwise you’ll die. You’ll encounter some soldiers along the way but nothing that you shouldn’t be able to handle. You’ll notice lots of heavy weapons lying around; it’s probably best you leave these until you face the final boss.
When you have activated all the data posts you’ll be prompted to find the control post. As mentioned previously, it’s just SE of the 4th datapost. Just as you think you’re going to get a clear entry to launch the shuttle the gates are locked and you’re tasked with destroying the experimental weapon. This is a large spaceship that shoots projectiles at the facility and circles the peripheral. You’re best heading high to tackle it; you can shoot up one of the air pockets to get higher. Grab rocket launchers, pile bunkers, disc grenades, grenade launchers; anything that packs a punch. If you can’t see anything on the level you’re on there’s plenty of stuff on each level so go and find it. If you find an area (and there are plenty) where you can pop in and out of cover to fire a rocket or two each time it comes around to your position it’s better than just standing out in the open and firing.
The experimental weapon will shoot torpedos and you can destroy these by shooting at them. You’ll need to take some of these out. They’ll also be reinforcements dropped onto the ship, so you’ll have to cope with the annoyance of foot soldiers getting in your way while you’re trying to take out the big boss. Keep focused on damaging it every time it comes around and keep stocked up on ammos and heavy weaponry. Once you take it down, area is complete. You’ve finally finished Episode 4!
