Just about to head out into the Akrid-filled Jungle of Lost PLanet 2? Before you go, check out some of our tips for staying one step ahead of the game.
- Data posts can be found on every mission. Activating them doesn’t just light up the way forward, but it also flags up enemies on your map, acts a respawn point should you die, and adds +500 to your battle gauge. It’s always worth activating data posts even if it’s not part of an objective.
- You’ll often see spawn pods clinging to cliff faces or walls. Akrid will keep breeding from the pods unless you destroy them. It’s always worth taking these out first before you get overwhelmed.
- If you’re unsure how to kill one of the larger Akrid, just look for orange points on their bodies. This is called the ‘Core.’ By aiming your fire at orange points which you may find on limbs, tails or even on the head, you’ll take them down far more easily than aiming at random spots.
- Open all crates that you come across. You never know what’s just around the corner and that rocket launcher or VS GAtling Gun that you’ll find may just save your life.
- Keep moving, particularly against the big bosses. Many of the bosses will stamp down or swipe at you, but if you keep on the move you’re harder to hit.
- Whenever you see a VS Suit that you can jump into it normally means you’re about to tackle something that requires a lot of firepower to kill. Don’t ignore the VS Suits, they’re vital to your success. Jump in one at every opportunity.
- Thermal Energy (T-Eng) plays a large part in the campaign. Fire it at team member’s to top them up and anytime you see a Thermal Regenerator make sure you top up to your limit. Every time you heal youself you drain your Thermal Energy metre. During the more intense battles and boss fights you can use Thermal Energy up at a massive rate.
- Keep an eye on your ammo. There’s nothing worse than running out of ammo and all your other team-mates have picked it up. Every time you see ammo pick it up, it may save your life.
- Keep an eye on your mini-map. Data posts can sometimes be difficult to find, but if you keep checking the mini-map in the top right hand corner they’ll often flag up on the map when you’re near to them.
