Alongside the main story mode, we’ll be giving you tips on how to get the most out of LittleBigPlanet 2′s mini-games and side quests and how to achieve the highest scores.
You unlock HedgeHopping in the first level, Da Vinci’s Quest.
In hedgehopping, you’ll be dropped onto a continous series of bounce pads and the screen will keep scrolling to the right. There is red poisonous smoke on the left and right hand side of the screen and underneath you. If you don’t keep on the move you’ll get caught in the smoke, but if you move too fast you’ll also get caught in the smoke to the right. There’s also numerous hazards to avoid, such as spikey tracks.
Don’t jump at all during this level. You jump automatically. All you need to do is steer Sackboy with your left analog stick. To win all item bubbles on this level you need to earn 10,000 points, though you will get some item bubbles if you score 2,500 or 5,000 points.
Note – You will die eventually, so there’s no ending point. In fact, the best tactic is not to concentrate too hard on getting the bubbles, but concentrate on landing on the platforms. As long as you keep doing this, you’ll continue to pick up points. Remember, chaining together bubbles in quick succession will earn you multiplier scores. There are quite a few instances where you’ll see five bubbles lined up in stack. The temptation is to try and pick them all up and earn a x2 multiplier. Instead keep moving right quickly across the screen and you’ll be able to pick x3, x4 or x4 multipliers by hitting more bubbles in a row and thus reaching the 10,000 goal more quickly.
It gets easier the more you play this level because you get to know which hazards are coming up and can react quickly. Watch out for the thin columns. You have to be very precise here, but you can often bypass them by making a huge leap to a larger platform.
If you miss a big bunch of bubbles don’t panic and try and go back and get them. In fact, never back-track otherwise you’re likely to get caught out. Keep steadily moving forward, making sure you land on firm ground.
