Valve are crafty devils, each campaign in Left 4 Dead 2 is littered with various references to other games, clues to future content and things most players will tend to miss the first time through. It can take awhile to find everything, so we’d thought we’d share with you what we’ve found so far.
Midnight Rider’s Tour Bus:
During the early stages of the second chapter, players will be able to see the Midnight Rider’s tour bus, zooming past at ridiculous speed. Just exit the safehouse as you normally would, keep walking to right, jump through the window opposite Club D into the bar, then exit out of the window opposite and walk up to the fence. If you’re fast and the first survivor to that point you’ll see and hear the speeding coach. Whether this alludes to a future campaign who knows? But it’s a really nifty bonus. It may take more than one try to see this, so if you miss it simply restart the chapter.
New Music in Jukebox:
Simply walk up to any Jukebox, press the use key and listen out for an often ignored track named RE: Your Brains. With lyrics like “All we want to do is eat your brains” and “We’re not unreasonable, I mean, no one’s gonna eat your eyes”, this is definitely worth a listen, it’s fair to say this is just as good as Portal’s ‘Still Alive’ and why wouldn’t it be? It’s written by the same talented musician, Jonathan Coulton. It may take a few tries for the Jukebox to pump out the music that you want, but it’s worth it in the end.
Tattoo Parlour:
A minor easter egg this one, but still worth checking out. Again in the second chapter, there’s a tattoo parlour on the high-street before Club D, you’ll know when you find it because it’ll be purely inhabited by rock loving dudes listening to Midnight Riders.
The Pool Room:
If you’re looking to references to other franchises, in the room with a pool table you’ve hit the mother-load. There’s multiple references to Dead Rising 2, Plants vs Zombies, and Dawn of the Dead, just cast your eyes on the wall. This is situated mid-way through the second chapter of The Passing, but if you want a quick cheeky look, just check the DLC’s survival mode and you can look to your heart’s content. It’s also worth checking out the toilet by the side entrance for some colourful bathroom graffiti.
That’s all we have for you at the moment folks, but we’ll keep updating the list whenever we find something new.
