Objective
Defeat Xolotl and reclaim the Mirror of Smoke
“I will enjoy watching you struggle before you die!”
This is the moment you’ve been building up to, the final boss battle against Xolotl. There’s a lot to contend with here so before you begin make sure equip the right weapons and items.
For this level we suggest equipping
Golden Shotgun or High Power Shotgun. Use this to shoot at Xolotl.
Dual SMG or Flamethrower. Use this to shoot at the spiders
Rocket Launcher. Good back-up against the larger enemies.
Having speed on your side will also come in handy for avoiding spike traps so equip and artefact or relic that helps you out in this cateogory.

Jade Heart, Stone Serpent and Golden Shroud of Cihuncoatl
Phase One
As soon as you jump down onto the spike grid take note of the two podiums to the West and East. Xolotl will appear sporadically on these platforms and this where you need to shoot him down. He will appear alternatively from East to West. Keep an eye on the blue circles that appear on the grid. They indicate that spikes are about to protrude from those particular platforms. So avoid them. Using the dodge maneovre here comes in very handy for getting out of the way quickly. During the first phase you’ll have to dodge the spikes and shoot at Xolotl until his damage bar disintegrates. Use one of your powerful shotguns to take him down.
Phase Two
Not only will you to move out of the way of the spiked platforms but you also need to kill the spiders that get in the way. The flamethrower or Dual SMGs will get rid of them quickly. Xolotl will once again appear alternatively on the podiums so shoot him whenever he appears. Once again you need to wear down his damage.
Note – There’s a glitch here that may happen if you get caught on a set of spikes. Each time you re-spawn you automatically get caught on the same spike and die. There’s no way to fix this as it stands. Just log out of the game back to the dashboard and restart.
At the end of Phase two, Xolotl will unleash the spiked roller toward you, but you can blast it out of the way with a bomb.
Phase Three
You’ll now enter an area where you’re surrounded by poisonous green pods. Xolotl will appear just in front or behind you as you move around the grid. Watch out for the black smoke which indicates where he’ll appear. Move away from the area where he lands using dodge because he’ll cause damage if he lands on top of you. When he appears in his full form blast him as before with shotguns. After you wear down his metre the first time other enemies will attack, including skeletons. The green pods will automatically blow up and spread poison during the battle so keep on the move, using dodge to get away from poison. Keep an eye on your secondary ammo metre here, don’t waste your big guns on the small enemies, such as lizards. Use your spear and conserve the big guns for taking down Xolotl and the larger enemies.

Phase Four
“The age of darkness is almost upon us.”
Xolotl will appear on the platform to the North above the arena. Whenever he appears there move toward the top of the small flight of steps and shoot him with the shotgun or rocket launcher. Throughout this phase you’ll be pelted by fireballs from above. Use your dodge move frequently to zip around the arena and avoid their blast. After you’ve worn down his metre for the first time he’ll summon fire monsters. Take these down with the shotgun and then get ready to dodge Xolotl as he jumps down onto the grid. He’ll appear as black smoke before you actually see him, so dodge out of the way and get ready to turn in that direction and shoot him with the shotgun.
Congratulations, you’ve killed Xolotl!
