Welcome to the complete L.A Noire walkthrough, where we’ll walk you through every head-scratching mystery, show you where to find all the clues, tell who’s lying and telling the truth and help you solve every grisly murder.
The first batch of cases you need to solve before you move up ranks to the Homicide Desk is the Traffic Desk Cases. This is the third case: The Fallen Idol.
Crash Site
Clue- Underwear
You’ll find this on the trunk of the wrecked car. The underwear has been torn
at the seams.
Clue- Letter from mother
Also on the trunk of the car, in the purse.
Clue- Prop shrunken head
Talk to the coroner. He’ll show you the prop and tell you that it was wedging the accelerator to the floor. Tilt it to get a good look at it.
June Ballard
Doping allegation- Doubt; You gain a P.O.I., Mark Bishop.
Injured female passenger- Lie; Use the torn underwear to prove the lie. Mark Bishop’s name pops up again.
Fake shrunken head- Doubt; Mark Bishop’s name pops up…again.
Suspect ‘Mark Bishop’- Doubt
Central Receiving Hospital
Clue- Evidence of abuse
Speak with the doctor outside Jessica’s room. He confirms that she was sexually abused and drugged. Read the chart at the end of Jessica’s bed for more information on her abuse.
Jessica Hamilton
Crash incident report- Lie; Use the torn underwear to prove the lie.
Contact with parents- Lie; Use the letter from her mother to prove the lie.
Association with Bishop- Doubt
Evidence of criminal abuse- Truth; Jessica remembers a building with a mermaid on the front of it.
Mallory’s Cafe
Just after you finish talking with Jessica, you’ll notice June Ballard leaving the hospital already. Tail her in your car. Keep your distance, but don’t fall too far behind. Also, reckless driving will get you noticed. Once she pulls up to the cafe, get out and take cover at the door. Wait until she stops looking around and gets on the phone. Enter the cafe and sit down at the second booth on your left, the one with the newspaper. You’ll go incognito and she won’t be able to spot you. Listen in on the conversation to get a new location- Mark Bishop’s apartment.
Bishop’s Apartment
Clue- $20,000 check
Head through the first door on your left. You’ll be in a bedroom. Look on the floor next to the window for the check. It’s from Mark Bishop to Lorna Hopgood.
Clue- Saddle
You’ll find this at the beginning of the hallway. It’s hard to miss. A big saddle for Mark Bishop for his film “Gay Cowboys”. It’s from Silver Screen Props.
Clue- Movie set replica
Go through the second door on the left and look on the counter. This is hard to miss.
Clue- Movie set photograph
Just left of the movie set replica you’ll find this. It’s a picture of the set of Intolerance, a new movie being made.

On the cabinet in the same room as Gloria Bishop. It’s on the other side of the wall from the movie set replica. This picture also has a building with a mermaid on it.

Domestic disturbance- Doubt
Whereabouts of Bishop- Truth
Check for $20,000- Lie; Use the $20,000 check to prove the lie. This gives you a new clue- blackmail.
Abuse of Jessica Hamilton- Doubt
Silver Screen Props
When Marlon leads you to the sound stage, check out the mirror on the left wall. When the lights are turned off, you can see that it’s a one way mirror. You’ll check out the room on the other side here in a minute.
Clue- Chloral hydrate
In the sound stage, look on the metal shelf in the corner for a bottle of pills. These are the same ones used to dope Jessica Hamilton.
Newspaper
Head back outside and go left when you get the chance. There’s an area here with work tables and dumpsters. Look on the table opposite the dumpsters for this Newspaper.
Clue- Prop shrunken head molds
In the same area as the Newspaper. Look on the table without the Newspaper on it for some shrunken head props without the stands. Tilt one of them around to get a better look at it.
Now look to the right of the dumpsters in this little nook. In the corner, there’s a wall painted to look like an alley. You can investigate it and kick it open. There’s an actual alley behind it. Enter the door to get into the secret room looking into the sound stage.
Clue- Film reel; Clue- Bishop’s whereabouts
In the secret camera room, look on the metal shelves for a film reel with an obvious orange label on it. Tilt it to examine the label and you’ll discover another location where you might find Mark Bishop- the Jungle Drums set.
Clue- Empty film canister
On the wooden cabinet next to the previous film reel, you’ll find another film reel. Tilt it to read Mark Bishop and Jessica Hamilton’s names, then open it. The actual film is gone.
Not important, but there’s another hole in this room that lets you look into the bathroom. These guys really didn’t want to miss anything.
Marlon Hopgood
Association with Bishop- Lie; Use the chloral hydrate to prove the lie.
Whereabouts of Bishop- Truth
Relationship with Ballard- Lie; Use the empty film canister to prove the lie. Turns out Ballard took the film of Bishop and Hamilton and is using it to blackmail him.
Evidence of blackmail- Lie; Use the $20,000 check to prove the lie.
After you finish questioning Hopgood and leave the building, you’ll have two cars of gangsters chasing you and trying to shoot you to hell. You can try to run away from them, or you can take them out of commission by bashing them into stuff.
‘Jungle Drums’ Set
At the set you find Mark Bishop. He’ll run off and you’ll be forced to chase him all the way to the top of the set. Once you catch him, the hit squad shows up to take Bishop out. You’ll need to protect him as you both climb back down the set. Keep an eye out for red barrels. They’ll explode if you shoot them. You’ll have to fight a lot of enemies on your way down. At the bottom, you’ll take on a large force of baddies. To take them all down quickly, look up and to your right. There’s a guy shooting at you from a platform with explosive barrels all over it. Shoot one of the barrels to blow the whole thing up. The large statue thing will fall on the guys below. Continue dealing with the enemies and eventually back up will arrive. Taking out the last of McAfee’s guys closes this case up and gets you promoted to homicide.
