Our complete boss battle guide to Kingdom Hearts Re:coded continues. In this section, we cover the third boss battle against Jafar the genie. Check out these tips for defeating him.
Originating in Disney’s Aladdin, he is a member of Maleficent’s group, and appears to be her second-in-command. He is royal vizier of Agrabah who is disliked by many, mainly Aladdin and Jasmine. Two-faced and cunning, Jafar seeks the demise of Aladdin and to rule as sultan of Agrabah. In this boss battle, Jafar takes the form of a genie.
How To Beat Jagar
Compared to the bosses that you’ve just encountered, Hades is easy to beat.
Jafar will appear in the centre and hurl a giant fireball at you. You can use dodge roll to avoid it. Meanwhile, you’ll be attacked around the perimeter. You kill Jafar by hitting the lamp which is carried by the red bird. If you’ve got a speed combo use it. It’s worth keeping on the move during this battle, running around the perimeter. If you have a Speed Combo, use it as you’ll be able to catch up with the lamp faster. When you see Jafar throw the fireball, keep still and guard against it. You’ll then have a good five seconds or so to chase down the lamp and hit it with a combo. Don’t worry about the enemies with the swords. You can just keep avoiding them. Focus on chasing the lamp.
In the second stage, he’ll summon blocks which you can climb. Keep track of the lamp and simply climb the blocks, lock-on and bash away at the lamp. There’s no real trick here. The blocks keep moving so you just have to time it right to get to the lamp. Once again, watch out for the big fiery rock that Jafar throws at you. Have cura handy if you need to heal. Remember, you can use magic to shoot at it from a distance, so as long as you’ve got a clear path to hit it, do so. When you’re close up, use combo attacks.
