Kingdom Hearts Re:coded – Boss Battle Guide – 03: Trickmaster

Published on January 18th, 2011

Our complete guide to continues. In this section, we cover the third boss battle against Trick Master. Check out these tips for defeating him.

A is a bizarre Heartless with spindly legs resembling scissor jacks, arms that appear and sound like they’re made of paper, and a head that is made of several segments balanced of top of each other. Each of these segments sports its own face—though all of the faces have the same glowing yellow eyes and jagged mouths—and they alternate in color from red to black. Its arms are black and it often juggles clubs with zig-zagging, purple and lavender stripes on them. It wears black armor with large, red shoulder pads, a black codpiece, and has a very thin and small red body. The upper halves of its legs are red, while their lower halves are black. Its feet are black, flat, and curl at the tips. Much of its upper body and head sport gold highlights.

How To Beat The Trickmaster
Stage 1
The Trickmaster will stay directly in front of you. The best position for you to take is right in the centre of the screen, so you’ve got plenty of space to jump left and right when you need to when avoiding fireballs, and you can dodge the danger blocks that you’ll come up against.

Trickmaster has four points on his body that you can aim for. Use charged shots and lock-on to try and hit all four. Sora is constantly moving forward automatically in this sequence, so watch out for the walls of damage blocks coming your way. The first one comes from the right, so move swiftly to the left. A single fireball will come hurtling your way straight after this wall, so jump over it to avoid getting hit.

Another wall of damage blox moves toward you. If you stay in the centre of the screen you’ll avoid it. It’s just a matter of timing now. Watch out for the queue when he is about to release a fireball and get ready to leap in the air to avoid it. In between his attacks, lock-on and charge attack him. Charge attacks will make short work of him, but you should still kill him easily with normal shots and good timing to leap over the fireballs.

Watch out for the low wall of fireballs that he sends your way. Simply jump over it. The longer it takes for you to kill him, the more you’ll have to keep contending with the damage block walls. Remember to stay in the middle of the screen, so you have time to swiftly dodge left or right to avoid them.

Watch out for prize blocks!

Stage 2
The attacks are similar to before but the action grows in intensity. Watch out for the homing and bouncing fireballs. Shoot these balls to break them. You need to move around a lot now to avoid any obstacles that come your way. Anticipate the attacks by keeping an eye of the Trickmaster. If his attacks glows red there’s something fiery coming your way, whereas if it glows purple it will be an obstacle you have to avoid.
This is an intense sequence so you need to concentrate fully. Remember to attack him, charged shots if possible, in between avoiding his fire.

Stage 3
In this third stage, Trickmaster takes everything he has learned from the previous two stages and puts them into action, only this time he has a new trick up his sleeve. When you see his attack glow light purple, he’s going to flip the screen. Get ready to dodge roll any fireballs that come your way, and continue to keep shooting at him when you’re not avoiding obstacles.
