In Part One of our God of War III guide, we take a look at Chapter One on Mount Olympus and offer you tips on how to kill the God of The Sea, Poseidon.
Concentrate first on chopping off the two legs of the Hippocamp. Take your blade and attack either the left or the right leg like your life depends on it. Once you’ve chopped hem both off you’ll be prompted to rush over to Poseidon, where you should use a combination of magic and blade attacks aimed toward his chest. Watch out for the trident attack which may take you by suprise, get ready to dodge out of the way! He’ll execute out one big Trident attack, followed by three Trident attacks which are a little harder to avoid. Just keep moving as he’ll always aim at the position where you were standing just before he lets loose.
In between attacks get in close and batter him with your blades. Look out for the circle that appears above his head. This is your prompt to climb up the roots behind him where you’ll activate a QTE sequence (Triangle, X, Circle and Square), so pay close attention!
After the QTE you’ll be back where you started and have to take out the legs again by using your blade attack. Simply dodge his attacks and watch out for the lightening that causes the ground to surge with electricity. Jump to avoid being electrocuted. Once you’ve destoyed the legs you’ll trigger a new QTE (R1, X) and finally you’ll get to kill the boss by following a new series of commands to deliver a brutal and bloody beating.
It gets much tougher, so enjoy this relatively easy battle!
