God Of War 3: Boss Battle Guide – How To Defeat Hades

Published on March 23rd, 2010

In Part Two of our guide, we take a look at the battle against , the God of the Underworld.  Check out these strategies and tips for defeating him quickly and efficiently.

After your fight against Poseidon , the boss battles get tougher. Hades is no push-over and this is battle that can last almost 10 minutes. First up, be on your guard for the context sensitive action that will prompt you to tap your L1 and R1 buttons repeatedly. This will prevent Hades from stealing your soul.

In the first part of the battle Hades will unleash a range of attacks from a foot stomp to a grapple attack.  You simply need to dodge his foot stomp by rolling out of the way.  During the grapple attack he’ll jump up to the ceiling and then launch himself at you. Do a double-jump to avoid getting injured from the tremors as he hits the ground.  During the fight he’ll also summon chains to come crashing through the floor in an attempt to impale you. You can run and jump around away from the spikes to avoid them.

Use the grappling hooks to get behind him!

During the first part of the fight, get in close in between his attacks and use Triangle, your heavy attack or one of your new moves to hurt him. Once you’ve done enough damage you’ll see the Circle appear above his head. Move towards him and press circle to trigger an animation. Keep tapping circle to rip a piece out of him.  This piece of flesh will then drop on the floor and try and make its way back to Hades. Destroy the beating piece of flesh quickly, otherwise you’ll have to start the sequence over again. You’ll have to rip flesh from him and destroy it three times before you move on to the next part of the fight.

Next up you’ll be involved in a tug-of-war with Hades as you stand either side of a huge drop.  Use your heavy attack to hurt him and if he manages to pull you over the side of the precipice keep tapping Circle to pull yourself up.  You’ll eventually defeat him by wearing him down and acquire the Claw of Hades, which allows you to summon the souls of the dead. The next bit is easy.  Fight off Hades’ minions. Test out your Claw of Hades, or use a variation of standard takes to see off these relatively weak foe. Hades will then be back for more.

This last part is all about timing. You start off in front of Hades and he’ll be swinging his arms at you like crazy. There are two grapple points either side of  him so you can press R1 and jump around behind. He can’t hit you here so use that opportunity to unleash a combination of attacks or magic. Keep moving and keep using the grapple hooks to your advantage.  When the circle appears above his head, move in for the kill. Next!

This is the worst walktrough I’ve ever read…No clear information on any of the boss specific attacks or how to avoid the skulls, the beasts, ets…

      In Titan Level.
Stay away of Hades, use L1 to avoid the Chain atack
After that,if u have the claws (i can´t remember the name) in level 2, u can use ‘L1+ circle’ to aproxime, then ‘L1+square’. It will cause a good damage (19hit aprox), oe u can use the bow, it will take aprox 80 hit to Hades climb the wall. Jump to avoid the first atack. Now here, the best estrategy is the bow, throw a lot of narrows. When Hades does the horizontal chain atack, you have to stay out of the ground, the highest atack is more difficult to hit Kratos. When the circle apears in Hades´head, do it, and then, destroy the “meat”. The weak atack, is the best to destroy the piece of the breast. For a while, is the further that i achieved.

This really is a absolutely worthless walkthrough. Each of the three “flesh pieces” is preceeded by a specific and unique set of abilities which are all dodged and delt with differently. The hounds and skulls are not even MENTIONED let alone explained…what about the arms? What about the single-safe-spot chains (different from the up from the ground chains)…what about the grab Circle sequences…what about using Bow vs using magic…what about the high vs low horizontal chain swing? The foot stomp is only under certain conditions (you are close enough) and he has mutliple types of chain swing sequences. This is absolutely 100% worthless as a tutorial or walkthrough…

This is absolutely worthless. It’s as if someone slapped the article together in 5 minutes. I learned more from the other comments than this retarded author.
