Shiva is the easiest Eidolon to overcome but that doesn’t mean she is going to help you straight away. She wants you to prove your worth and here is a handy guide on how to tame her.
The first thing to note is that Shiva is split into two parts, Nix and Styria. Styria will seldom heal Snow over the course of the battle so there is no real need to use potions often. Nix on the other hands will be attacking you and you must focus all of your attention on her.
At the start of the battle, Nix will cast Doom onto Snow. This will bring a timer over his head and once the time depletes it is game over. So you need to act fast. Seeing that you are left only with Snow for this battle, it is easy to be taken out. Keep an eye on your health bar as Styria will not always keep you topped up in times of need.
Nix’s Gestalt gauge is easily raised by building up a combo on her stagger bar or defending. Get two rounds of attacks in on Nix to get the meter started, then tap L1/LB to switch Snow’s Paradigm to Sentinal. Once his Paradigm has shifted, head into the abilities section and select Steelguard. Select this move three times and Snow should start casting Steelguard onto himself over and over.
Take a good look at the Gestalt meter on Nix. Each time Snow uses Steelguard it fills the meter up faster than attacking Nix. Just keep repeating this move over and over. Once the Gestalt meter hits three quarters full, tap the Square/X button to enter Gestalt mode and claim your new summon.

Worked perfectly. Thank you.
This didn’t work
thank you so much this helped me alot
Worked well. Another tip that helps…try to hold off on using your Steelguard while she is charging her ATB. She does it long enough to waste almost two full Steelguards. If you start it right when she starts then cancel action and try to refill your bars for her attacks. Thanks again for the help.
thanks alot
This guide fucking sucks. Did you even play the game?
Matts a fucking idiot. Great guide girl worked like a charm.
Thanks…tried 3 or 4 times to win this battle til I found this!
This didn’t work for me. Every time I change to sentinel, the bar drops to 0 and I basically start over.
Matt and Dan, you are looking at the wrong bar. You are most likely looking at the bar in the top right corner. Thee one you want is where her health ber usually is. I was making the same mistake for a while.
This helped so much. I was stuck on that bit and I’d don’t it mover ten times. This guide really helps
