You struggling to tame Fang’s Eidolon? Appearing in over 16 Final Fantasy games, the dragon king Bahamut is not only one of the more recognizable summons in the series but usually one of the strongest. Use our guide to claim Bahamut in under two minutes.
Bahamut's Mega Flare attack can net over 100,000 damage.
Another extremely quick battle, Bahamut is pretty easy to take out once you know the trick. First of all set up your paradigms to the following:
- Fang: Saboteur / Vanille: Saboteur / Lightning: Medic
- Fang: Sentinal / Vanille: Medic / Lightning: Medic
- Fang: Sentinel / Vanille: Ravager / Lightning: Ravager
At the start of the battle you will want to cast some negative effects onto Bahamut. So have Fang and Vanille cast slow, deshell and weak onto Bahamut. This will also start to raise the Gestalt meter. Once you have cast a few good debuffs onto the Eidolon, pummel the dragon with magic attacks. Bahamut will attack your characters twice on the ground before launching your party into the air and then smashing them back down. When this happens paradigm shift to Sentinel/Medic/Medic (Combat Clinic) and start healing up.
The Gestalt meter on Bahamut is raised by chaining attacks with the Ravager class, defending from attacks with the Sentinal role and also by causing negative status effects. As all the paradigms you use in this battle contribute towards Behamut’s Gestalt meter, the battle will finish very quickly.
As usual tap Square/X when the Gestalt meter is three-quarters full and Bahamut will go into Gestalt mode. Enjoy your new Eidolon!
As a side tip, Bahamut is one of the easiest ways to claim the ‘Limit Breaker’ achievement/trophy. Using Bahamut’s ultimate attack ‘Mega Flare’ can sometimes cause over 100,000 damage. Try use this summon when you have staggered a weakened foe.

Dude i died so i looked this up and basically what i did was cast with fang curse and slow on it a bunch of times, with a healer and sentinental on the side… it was easy, it raised in no time
Strange, i beat this guy in 1:27 …I’m not sure why people found him tough. Simple Sab/Rav/Med did the job mixed in with Com/Rav/Rav…Maybe I got lucky.
I died like 5 times in a row almost got him once before clock ran out.
With this, did it in about a minute and made it look easy, nice one.

this doesn’t work if you havent upgraded your health enough so I’d recommend. Putting some gold bangles on everyone so you dont get killed by the first combo
