Dark Souls is one of the toughest games you’re ever likely to play. Even the low-level characters are tough to beat, but the bosses? Well, they’re in a whole league of their own. Follow this guide for details on strategies and tips to beat the big boys.
If there’s one thing you need to learn in this battle, and learn fast, it’s not to stand and fight when the odds are against you. Instead, get ready to run!
Watch for the dragon’s leg rising in the air and back-step a few times out of the way or keep rolling in the opposite direction to the raised leg – (left if it’s right leg and vice versa.) When he jumps in the air, point the camera upwards so you can see where he’s going to land and get ready to move out the way. When he charges and runs at you dash the side and when he pauses to regain composure – attack!
Watch out the liquid he spews from this body. Don’t stand in it too long as it wrecks your weapons. Also be careful of his tail, which he’ll use as a weapon. Once again dodge out the way. During this fight don’t bother equipping a shield, it’s useless and it will slow you down when rolling.
Aim for his tail as a priority, you want to cut it clean off and get the Great Dragon Axe to your efforts. Watch out for Dragon’s recovery time after his attacks. In the first instance, don’t attack. Count how long it takes him to recover and then bear that in mind so you know how much time you’ll have next time.
Lightning attacks are very effective, so use Gold Pine Resin if you have any!
