Battlefield Bad Company 2: Strategy And Tips For The Recon Kit

Published on March 20th, 2010

If sneaking around, picking off enemies from a safe distance appeals to you, then choose Class. Check out Gamerzine’s Guide to Medic Class, including tips and strategies to keep you one step ahead of the game.

The extra camouflage that the Recon class wears makes him tricky to spot especially when hiding among greenery. Equipped with a sniper rifle he is most effective at long distances. Find a spot where it’s hard to be seen by your enemy. Camp in a place where you have a good visual of your enemy – overlooking where the enemy spawn is an ideal spot.

If you’re not playing in hardcore mode, beware! The Kill cam will give away your position. It’s wise after shooting an enemy to move to another location before you’re taken out. Sniping can be hard to master. Aim slightly above the head of your enemy, remembering that distance and trajectory plays a part. Get a head -shot and you’ll get extra points. Scatter motion sensors around you. This way you’ll be alerted to anyone who tries to sneak up behind you.

Use a Mortar Strike on an exposed tank!

The sniper rifle that you start off with is useless, so work on gaining points in Recon class early on so you can unlock the better rifles and scopes that will give you a real edge. And don’t forget to actually help your team-mates. As a sniper it’s easy to camp out all game and forget that there’s actually an objective to acheive. You won’t be doing your team any favours just staying in the same spot all match. If you haven’t seen any enemies for a couple of minutes move forward, find a new place to camp, or get down into the thick of things and get planting some C4.

The C4 explosive means that you’re effective at close quarters as well. Use it to damage M-Com stations, or plant them on armoured vehicles and get out the way! It’s a good idea to plant C4 around control points, that way you can catch any invading infantry by surprise.

Use the Mortar strike (unlocked at 3,930 points) whenever you can, it’s an awesome gadget. If you can see where a sniper is hiding but can’t quite get a clear shot at him, call in a Mortar strike to clear the area. Keep an eye out for areas where a lot of infantry are converging. This will give you a great chance to get multiple kills. Use the Mortar Strike against tanks, you may not destroy them on your first strike, but you’ll certainly damage them and make them a marked target.

ya, the M24 is useless, because most people use it until they unlock the GOL sniper magnum, because the type 88 is so great with its 1 shot kills

I would disagree with you there the M24 is a good weapon and can hold it’s own against the M95 and GOL sniper magnum, in most cases I prefer it to the the GOL sniper magnum. You just need to know how to use it. :P

ya, i agree, i was just being sarcastic… the M24 is the best until you get up the GOL… the russian snipers suck horribly

Well, i use GOL cuz i really need that accuracy at long distances, but i must say the M24 is pretty good. I prefer the M24 rather then the M95 anyway.

The M24 is definitely the second best sniper rifle in the game; the M95 is too big and too loud thus giving away your position, and its painfully slow reload negates its slight power advantage.

The russian sniper rifles have their uses, although they aren’t made for the same purpose as their long range NATO cousins. The SVU, for example, is a good rifle for very small urban maps like White Pass where its stealth and rapid follow up shots are very helpful. Also, the VSS is really just a silenced assault rifle, so if you slap a red dot sight on it, you can play a more spec ops commando style of recon play and infiltrate rather than suppress enemy positions.

I would totally disagree with all of you, the M24 is by far the best. I have heard the many people say that the gol and the M95 is the best, with the M95 u got all the power and with the gol has the best Accuracy. With the M24 the power and Accuracy are balanced and that makes it the best

I have a question as I am new to BFBC2 and need one question answered with the sniper such as the GOL do u still need to aim above the head, what does the increased accuracy actually do for you

@ BC2Gamer yess u do, with all kits, and all weapons, how far u gotta aim up depends on the distance

I never knew you had to aim a little above their head because when i use the GOL or M95 i am for the center of their heads and get straight headshots. I got a collateral 2 days ago the first kill being a headshot :9
