Battlefield Bad Company 2 – Strategy And Tips Guide

Published on March 2nd, 2010

If you want to stay ahead of the game in , check out our tips for staying alive.  There are  a few spoilers ahead,  so turn away now if you’d rather plough through the single player campaign  without help.

- When you get hit you’ll need to recover. If you move around it takes longer to get your health back . Find a safe spot and keep still and you’ll soon be back on your feet.

- Defence is often the best form of attack. You’ll almost always be out-numbered and your enemy will take up multiple positions surrounding you. Move slowly up the battlefield, clinically taking out enemies one at a time.  Run in without thought and you’ll soon be stopped in your tracks. If you do happen to see two guys standing right next to each other, you can take them out with one carefully placed head-shot from your sniper-rifle.

- Take out RPG-wielding enemies first otherwise they’ll prove to be a real pain to both you and your team as they smash holes in your cover.  One well-placed shot by an enemy RPG will take you out immediately. Keep an eye on windows and roof-tops and take them down first. The rest can wait.

- If you can’t work out immediately where your enemy is shooting from and you’re under a barrage of attack, fire an RPG toward a surrounding building. The blast radius is quite large, so chances are you’ll kill someone.

- You don’t always have to alert soldiers to your presence. Use your knife for silent kills.

Silent but deadly

- If the pressure’s getting too much let your squad do some of the work, that’s what they’re there for.  They’ll take out a few of the bad guys without your help. Step back out of the situation, leave it a few minutes and come back. You’ll often find that a couple of the enemies have been killed.

- Keep an eye out of weapon supply drops in the form of crates (start in Mission 3 (Heart of Darkness.)  You may run into a situation where the two weapons that you have equipped aren’t suitable, for example, taking out a helicopter with a sniper rifle and a shotgun is going to take you a long time.  You can often survey the area and find suitable weapons, but knowing where the weapon crates are will save you the bother.

- The weapon crates store any weapon that you have picked up. There are tons of weapon collectibles lying around, so it’s worth picking up everything, even if you then put it straight back down. You can carry only two weapons at a time.

- Mission 2 (Cold War) gives you the opportunity to use the Assault Rifle mounted grenade launcher. Use it to deny enemies cover and create ways through buildings and obstacles.

- Mission 6 (SnowBlind) is called that for a reason. You will literally be blinded by snow and will die if you get too cold. Stay warm by shooting canisters and then get close to them for heat. Or take refuge in a building until the screen clears. A few seconds and you’ll be good to make your descent down the mountain.

Keep your head down from RPGs

- Mission 7 (Heavy Metal.) This can get very tough. You’ll have a pair of binoculars to scan the city and you’ll need to call in air-strikes. Forget the snipers, aim for anyone who’s carrying an RPG and hide behind your tank for cover because you’ll get a barrage of missiles heading your way.

- Become familiar with how long it takes to re-load your weapon. A sniper rifle, for example, takes 2 seconds. If you’re standing out in the open waiting for the re-load you’re likely to get sniped yourself.  Move out of site or stay behind cover during re-loads.

- Be very careful during levels where you’re travelling across sand, particularly mission 9 (Sangre Del Toro). Sand-storms can make it difficult for you to see your enemy in front of you.  Take refuge in a safe place until you can see — there’s absolutely no point trying to fight while you’re blinded.

- When you’re looking for the missing ship in Mission 9 it may take you a while to figure out how to access the boat. Look carefully for oil containers hidden slightly out of sight on the ship. Shoot at them and you’ll bring down a platform allowing you access.
