You’ll get yourself into a fair few scrapes with sword-wielding guards throughout your travels in the wonderful world of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, but if you hope to come out of a fight unscathed, defence is a key strategy in the art of combat. Part one of our combat guide looks at the best way to defend against your enemies…
Learning to press your guard button at the right time, timing it perfectly so that you block just as your opponent’s sword is about to come crashing down on you, is a vital tactic to master. Just as crucial, however, is to keep moving when being attacked from multiple directions, and trying to make sure that no-one can attack you from behind. The best way to combat this is by moving your back against a wall, that way you’re totally in control.
Counter-attacking is a key tactic
When you’re in this position you have the upper-hand because now you can judge their blows without being put off by attackers coming at you from all sides, and this is where your counter-attack is the most effective. As an enemy sword is about to strike you, tap on the counter attack button and you’ll reverse the move, often sending your sword right through your opponent’s midriff. You’ll come up against some tough foe who do well to constantly block your attacks, so stepping backwards and letting them come at you, and then executing your counter-attack at just the right moment is crucial.
