- Talk to Rusty
Follow Barry your agent into the visitor centre. Rusty is outside on the decking, but before you see him check out the kitchen area behind the desk to find a Coffee Thermos. Now go and talk to Rusty outside.
- Find the form
The form is located on the desk in reception behind where Barry is standing. Take the time to check out the skeletal creature in the foyer and read the sign. HEad back to Rusty and he’ll give you some keys to your cabin in exchange for the form. Leave the visitor’s centre out of the front door. You’ll be transported now to your cabin.
- Head for Lover’s Peak
Before you leave the cabin check the kitchen area downstairs. There’s a coffee thermos next to the fridge and there’s some batteries on the same unit next to the sink. Go outside and move around to the back of the building. You’ll see a coffee thermos on the hot tub on the decking. Now head for your SUV.Back to the front of the house and down the pathway. There’s a manuscript right by your SUV on the floor in front of the shed. Try the door of your SUV. Oh shit, looks like you’ve got to walk through the scary forest. Head behind the wooden shack and into the depths of the wood down the path.
There’s a cabin on your right on the way down. Go inside and listen to the radio show. In the wardrobe you’ll also find some ammo. Was that a shadowy figure that just walked past the window? Get out of there and head back down the path toward the visitor’s centre. A street light shatters. Another cabin to your right and a small caravan. Kick the door in of the cabin and watch the TV show. Back down the path again until you see a phone box on your right. Take the pathway right up the hill. There’s a manuscript in the lookout up here. Move back to path and down, you’ll see a car on the left and there’s a manuscript in the boot. Move down the path. All the lights go out and there’s screams and gun-shots in the distance.
- Help Rusty
Move forward into the parking lot of the visitor centre. Check out the first wooden shack on your left. You’ll find a coffee thermos here. See the fallen tree? It’s landed on the Park Ranger’s office. Near to the front door of that office you’ll see a Manuscript. There’s also a coffee Thermos behind this building at the foot of a pine tree. Try the door to the Ranger’s office. It’s locked you need a key. Head to the building opposite, the Visitor’s Centre, where you’ll find Rusty in a bit of state. Pick up the revolver.
- Get the lights on
Back to the Ranger’s office and unlock the door. There’s a manuscript at the end of the corridor in front of the door. Move into the office and check the cupboards for ammo and batteries. Move into the side room and you’ll see that someone’s sabotaged the circuit board by embedding an axe into it. Better go back to Rusty to tell him the bad news.
- Return To Rusty
On your way back across the parking light you’ll notice black oily spots on the floor. If you shine your light at them you’ll destroy them. Don’t bother using your boost you’ll need that. As you destroy the third black blob two Taken will appear from outside the Visitor’s centre wielding axes. Should be no problem to take them out. Enter the Visitor centre. Something has torn a massive hole in the side of the building and Rusty has vanished. Move through the hole.
Bad news, Rusty is now Taken. It’s like a mini-boss battle here, Rusty is tougher to defeat than normal Taken, but he only carries an axe. He’s quite fast and can appear behind you so get ready to dodge when you need to. If you run out of ammo there is an ammo box in this area, behind one of the big rocks.
Move forward out of this are now toward the gate. Two more Taken will come at you. You should be well stocked with ammo, so not a problem. Move through the gates and down the steps. The phone rings. It’s Barry.
Keep following the path forward but stick to the right. You’ll take a pathway to a lookout point with a manuscript on the picnic table. Follow the sign to Lovers’ Peak searching the red Emergency box along the way for batteries and ammo. Follow the steps down and cross the bridge.
Before you head to Lovers’ Peak go straight ahead to the Moonshine Cave. Yellow arrows point the way if you shine your torch around. You’ll come across a sign telling you of Boot-legging activity by smugglers. Follow yellow arrows until you reach a hidden chest and a shotgun standing next to it.
Go back to the Lovers’ Peak sign and back on course. Just as you reach the phone box 3 x Taken will lunge at you. Not much room to move around in this area, but try and keep a distance and don’t let them get too close. Plenty of dodging if you need to. Move across the next bridge. Take a detour right at the Lovers’ Peak sign (Which points left.) You’ll find a manuscript at the end of this path by the picnic table on the floor.
Go back down the path and head up the left path now to Lovers’ Peak. Keep an eye out for a pathway leading left when you reach the next Lovers’ Peak sign. This take you to a lookout place where you’ll find shotgun and ammo and a Healing light, which you may need now, but will definitely need a few minutes. Get back on track until you reach the huge tree “The Great Old Oak.” Three Taken will attack. Use the healing light after you’ve killed them if you’re hurt. Make sure you read the sign at the foot of the tree.
Go through the heart of the tree and follow the path down. More Taken, in fact there’s loads of them in that area. It’s still worth back-tracking to heal if you need to. Across another bridge and you’ll see a generator at the end. Start generator and then check the box on the tree ahead for more ammo. As you move forward on the path you’ll see a manuscript on the floor. Move toward the sparking phone box. Behind it you can jump over the fence and get the coffee thermos on the rock.
Get back on track toward Lovers’ Peak past the Beware of the Bears sign. You’ll get ambushed at the area where you see a big rock in the middle. Follow sign forward, but before you go through the gate take the path to the right. There’s a coffee thermos on a picnic table and a sign to read about tree rings.
Go back to gate. Climb over the rock to the left of the gate and you’ll see manuscript on rock right in front of you. Follow pathway and summon the cable car. It’s not a smooth ride.
- Follow the kidnapper
Carry on up the hillside trail after picking up the flare and batteries from the emergency box on your left. You’ll encounter some Taken up ahead but the kidnapper will shoot them, you just need to shine your light in their faces. Past the sign to Lovers’ Peak and more Taken will attack. Just do what you did before. There’s an emergency box here to your left will flares inside. You can hold them off the kidnapper by using flares. Up the steps and into the healing light. Up the next set of steps to platform where you see an emergency box at the end. There’s more flares here.
- Defend viewing platform
You’ll have to hold off waves of attacks from the Taken, purely by using flares. Just throw them in front of the kidnapper and he’ll do the rest. Before you leave, check out the area behind the information sign at the front of viewing platform. You’ll find a coffee thermos. A scuffle ensues with the kidnapper.
- Make it through the woods
There’s ammo, flares and batteries in the area you’re standing. Before moving forward, go behind you underneath the bridge to the right hand side and down the slope. Your torch will light up yellow arrows leading you to a chest. Back to where you came from, press forward across the logs to the other side of the river and then back again across another log. Move up the trail. There’s something twinkling on the floor. It’s a bear trap. If you do walk into it you’ll get trapped and a Taken will come out of the woods toward you. You can avoid it. It’s worth seeing what happens though. From this point forth watch out for bear traps they’re all over the woods. Walk with your flashlight pointing to the floor. Keep following the path foward until you reach the barrel laden with ammo.
Just in front of that barrel is a log and in front of that log, which overlooks the river, is a manuscript. There’s also a can pyramid on one of the other barrels in this area. Carry on making your way through the forest, behind the barrel with the cans until you reach a log crossing. When you get over the other side you’ll come across a clearing where you’re attacked from all angles. They’ll overwhelm you quickly so head to the high ground instead. Keep pressing forward and you’ll go up a slope with a hut at the top. There’s a generator right next to it. Turn that on to stop any attacks.
In the shed where the generator is outside there’s a coffee thermos, and in the shed opposite you’ll find a manuscript on the floor. Move over to the wooden decking and you can drop down. You’ll see a plane to your right. Go and investigate. Climb up onto its right wing to find a hidden chest. You can also enter the body of the plane and it will creak and tip. Go back to where you came from down the track and head to the clearing where you can see the lamp attached to the tree. Start the generator here. Move out of the clearing and toward next light. On the edge of the cliff right up high you’ll see a coffee thermos. Follow the edge of the cliff down until you reach the entrance to the old mill.
- Reach the top of the Old Mill
Gain some health by standing in the lamp light outside the mill. Cimb up the ladders and after a small fright you’ll drop down and be able to enter the building. You’ll need to burn away the black blobs everywhere you go in the building with your torch. Up the stairs until you reach the first floor. Go into the room and out onto the the back decking where you’ll find a manuscript. Head back to stairwell and up again. Kick the weight to send an elevator up. Jump onto the elevator and across to retreive another manuscript. Into the next room and there’s a coffee thermos on the small table. There’s also a set of ladders leading to the attic. Up you go, more black marks to burn and you’re out into the woods.
- Make it through the woods
Move forward through the crates. There’s a tough Taken to tackle here so use your rifle if you have one, otherwise take up cover behind crates and use your flashlight wisely. In the barn to your left is a hunting rifle, but there’s also a manuscript. You have to climb the crates and drop down the back to find it. Press forward across the bridge emptying the emergency box as you go. Move up the hill. Watch out for the falling logs, they will damage your health. More Taken here but nothing you haven’t already dealth with. Move forward toward camping ground. Hmm.. is that the sound of a chainsaw. As you approach the gate a huge fighure weilding a chainsaw smashes it down. It will take a lot of revolver shots to kill him so hopefully you save some of those hunting rifle bullets. Flares will keep him away from you. He deals large damage so try and keep a distance. Keep on the main path otherwise you may find yourself backed against a tree.
- Return to Barry
Move into the healing light on the platform and then off the other side. As you press forward there’s a coffee thermos on your picnic table on your right. Enter the camping grounds and examine the garage with the truck on your right.
- Find garage keys
They’re in the men’s restroom in the building straight opposite the garage. Before you get them pick up the manuscript from outside the ladies toilets. When you get the keys run back to the garage, no need to bother killing any Taken, save that for when you get in your truck!
- Return to Barry
You can boost your lights by pressing A to eat away at the Taken’s darkness. You can also run them over. If you run 15 of them over you’ll gain an achievement. Move out of the camping grounds and take a right on the road until you reach a dead-end. Get out of the car and pick up the coffee thermos. Go the other way up the road now past the camping grounds on your left knocking over any Taken on your way. Where you see the logging truck in the middle of the road take a right up the hill to small shed where you’ll find a hidden chest. Before you reach the steel bridge take a left and you’ll see a caravan, a portaloo, a street lamp and a can of pyramids on the picnic table you can shoot. There’s also another car here in case you want to switch. You might need to because you car will be smoking from smacking up all those Taken. Back across the steel bridge. Get out by the huge lorry and behind it is a picnic area with a coffee thermos on the table Also behind the semi slightly to the right you’ll find a blocked off tunnel where you can pick up manuscript.
Now back in the truck and follow the road around to the camping grounds. You’ll reach the visitor’s centre car park. Remember the trail that you took through the woods from Rusty’s Cabin to get here? Take your truck up there until you can reach no further, you’ll be blocked off by a caravan. You need to go the rest of the way by foot. Keep moving up the hill until the kidnapper rings. Check out all those ravens circling the cabin! If you’re playing in Nightmare mode you’ll now find a Nightmare Script on the road.
- Save Barry from the birds
Move toward the cabin and go around the back. There’s some yellow arrows you can follow to a hidden chest in the gardens. Ravens attack in groups. They’ll come from all directions but if you keep looking up at the sky you should see which group is going to attack next. Shine your flashlight at any ravens and use your boost. If you have flares in your flare gun you can take out large groups of them. Keeping trying to kill the waves of attacks until Barry calls you. Go inside the cabin and talk to Barry.
