Press coverage of Gamerzines
Xbox Live's Major Nelson
"I was impressed with the quality of the writing, content and layout of this publication. It's worth a download if you're looking for another way to get some gaming news supplemented with some pretty colour pictures (and other multi-media content) wrapped with snappy British writing. Check out the interactive Fable 2 quiz, it's a lot of fun!"

"These digital magazines are simply beautiful. They look as good or better than any print magazine that you would pay for. The magazines take full advantage of the multimedia capabilities of Adobe Acrobat and embed video previews and trailers right in the document. [...] They do fair and insightful reviews and they don't pull any punches if the game being reviewed is bad. [...] This is one site that really offers something for nothing. You don't even need to register you email address in order to download the free magazines. [...] I found myself reading them from cover to cover while I have print game magazines that have been sitting on the desk beside me untouched for weeks.
MCV - The UK's leading Videogames trade publication "As the print media continues to wrestle with the growing interest in online, Cranberry Publishing is looking to bridge the gap between the two with its online magazines, 360Zine and PCGZine. And with 30,000 downloads of the first issue of 360Zine already in the bag its new venture is off to a good start."

"The thing that really makes GamerZines stand out from the crowd of conventional gaming magazines is, that it’s freely published on the internet for anyone to easily access and read, and the interactive media that is found inside means that it can go far beyond your conventional print magazine, videos, quizzes, forms and many more things all add together to give a dynamic experience instead of the static one you receive from your normal print magazine. Add all of that together with knowledgeable authors that are in the gaming scene, makes for one fantastic, free online magazine".

"In the internet's latest bid to to obliterate the paper press, Gamerzines brings free downloadable flash mags straight to your computer. And to tell the truth, they’re kinda cool."

"I just spent some enjoyable time looking at the GamerZines' PCGzine. They are proving that print game magazines are becoming obsolete. While you can look at the static pictures of a paper magazine, with GamerZines, what they describe comes to life in embedded video. This is cool. They can describe something, and then you can watch it. In their [PES6] Fanzine Issue of tips and tricks, they are talking about a trick to use in Pro Evolution Soccer 6. After you read it, you can watch how they demonstrate what that trick looks like."

Tom's Hardware "Most attempts have bombed after only one or two issues, however. People have an ingrained sense that despite wanting magazine quality, they don't want to have to pay for it when it's a "Bring-Your-Own-Paper" web job. Enter UK-based Cranberry Publishing with a solution: offer eMagazines for free and without asking for so much as an email address to get them. While somewhat ingenious, it's almost obvious why the traditional publishers never copped on to the strategy." This is an excerpt from the introduction to a long interview on Tom's Hardware with Gamerzine's Publishing Director, Dave Taylor.
Armchair General Magazine "...The major advantage being that readers get the full article and large pics both across the width and breadth of their monitors, with no sinking crease hindering the display like in print magazines. If you have a nice (or better) 21" LCD monitor like I do, it’s quite a very nice and welcome sight to behold.
"Page manipulation is done simply by clicking on the current page to turn to the next one, or by using the menu bars at top and bottom to zoom in and out, print the current page, or jump to another section. Clicking on website URL’s open up your browser and take you to that page. There’s even a toggle from full-page view to windowed view, in case you need access to your desktop or anything else underneath. But wait, it gets better! Not only does PCGZine also have sound, like AFK Magazine, it also has video! About every third page has a small PIP (picture-in-picture) of some 10-20 second video related to the current page...GamerZines have started something new and very much improved for the future of gaming magazines..."
