Rumours that the successor to the next Nintendo DS hand-held is in development have gathered pace today after new evidence claims that development kits for the DS 2 are currently in the hands of some developers, including The Pokemon Company.
The source of the rumour, claims CVG, is a third-party studio who is currently checking out the DS 2. This industry mole claims: "It's genuinely the best thing I've ever worked with. I can tell you that it's got a 'tilt' function that's not dissimilar to iPhone but does a lot more."
The insider says that we shouldn't expect the DS2 to arrive any time soon as it is a work in progress and only a few studios have currently been chosen to trial the new hardware.
Gamerzines contacted Nintendo and were greeted with the usual "We can't comment on rumour or speculation."
With big industry events such as GDC coming up in March and E3 in June, more news about Nintendo's next hand-held may not be too far away.
