Though the official Media Create sales figures haven't arrived yet, Famitsu has posted its own figures for the week, showing that Dragon Quest IX sold a whopping 2,343,000 units in its first few days on sale.
That's a little less than was earlier suggested, with some estimates putting the game closer to 3 million, though that might have accounted for an entire week's sales rather than the Thursday to Sunday figures charted by Famitsu.

DSi sales shot up to 138,000 this week, mainly thanks to DQIX, but also because Nintendo launched a new Cherry Red version of the console. By comparison, the handheld's nearest rival, the PSP, sold 30,000 units.
Perhaps not quite the record-breaking start some hinted at, then, though we'll wait for Media Create's analysis and the reveal of the seven-day figures before we write off DQIX's shot at the Fastest-Seller Ever award.
Thanks to NeoGAF for the figures.
