Nintendo's 'Demo Play' idea is a sound concept - allowing players to effectively skip part of a game they're struggling with at the press of a button. In theory, this mechanic will see the game playing itself for a short period of time, allowing the player to jump back in when they're good and ready.

According to Kotaku, the paper describes the feature as being suitable for "high speed action games". Whether or not this would include the likes of Zelda: Spirit Tracks remains to be seen, but with that game featuring plenty of sword-swinging action as well as some thoughtful puzzle-based interludes, perhaps it will be a DS title when Demo Play will be introduced for the very first time.
Zelda: Spirit Tracks and New Super Mario Bros. Wii are two of Nintendo's biggest hits for the winter season - with no concrete release dates for either, we're guessing that whichever of the two hits shelves first will be the world's first taste of Demo Play.
