Seems as though Sega wants you to be able to play the good kind of sonic everywhere (pre-1994). Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles will all be making the jump to the touch screen when they are repackaged for the Nintendo DS next year.

Much like the Sega Mega Drive Collection gamers will be able to save anywhere during play and learn of interesting facts behind the franchise via video and collectible pictures.

What we really want is something new with a 2D Sonic flavour like Sonic Rush 2 or maybe even a brand new property which isn't Olympics or kart related.

Perhaps Project Needlemouse will save us from any future mascot tie-ins and show Sega the way.
