Resident Evil Revelations director Koushi Nakanishi promises the handheld title will be a return for form for the series calling the 3DS game a "true survival horror".
In an interview with Famitsu magazine, Nakanishi explained that despite borrowing the same play style as Resident Evil 4, a polarising entry in the series which shifted the focus on action rather than horror, Revelations will add what Capcom is calling the "classic style" of the series.
What this means for Revelations is an emphasis on exploration, puzzle solving, limited ammunitation and some actual fear and suspense – so much so that Nakanishi hopes it will have players unable to move.
Don’t get too excited just yet. Famitsu says Revelations is only 20 percent complete meaning we certainly won’t see this shocker by the time the Nintendo 3DS launches in Japan next February.
