Rare 3DS development

Published on November 3rd, 2010

Whilst UK developer Rare may be owned by Nintendo’s rival Microsoft, it hasn’t prevented the studio from teasing that they may return to handheld platforms to produce future projects.

Responding to a query as to whether Rare would ever bring Banjo Kazooie to the , the developer responds "Banjo-3DSie confirmed! Although by confirmed I do mean 100 per cent utterly speculative."

They continue, "We haven’t done much in the handheld ‘space’ since Donkey Kong Racing DS and Pocket Paradise – could we dip our toes in again at some point? Possibly. 3DS? Not for me to say. Bandai WonderSwan? No."

Rare have, however, recently stated that they are to focus their efforts currently on producing Kinect titles, so even if a 3DS title was to be made we imagine it’d be further down the line.
