Nintendo has said it hopes to run up to 8-player online racing in 3DS speedster Mario Kart 3D.
In a coversation with Joystiq, Mario kart producer Hideki Konno said: “Our goal right now is to have the same number of players for both local wireless and multiplayer over Wi-fi. The bottleneck at the moment is making sure the game can handle smooth 60FPS frame rate with eight players in both online and offline, 2D and 3D.”
Eight player racing is double that of Mario Kart DS which supported just four player online races.
Mario Kart 3D is set to launch worldwide this holiday.
