Nintendo and Sky have teamed up to bring a 3D broadcast of Nintendo 3DS Ignition
The show, due to air tonight on Sky 3D, features live comedy and musical performances which took place at an exclusive VIP launch event held last night in London’s Old Billingsgate.
The event saw 2,000 members of Nintendo UK’s loyalty program ‘Club Nintendo’ descend on the venue to see the likes of comedian Russel Kane and performances from BRIT award winners Plan B and rock act Hadouken.
Sky TV confirmed in January that it would be supplying short-form 3D sports, entertainment and documentary content to Nintendo’s new handheld.
"We’re delighted to extend our relationship with Nintendo to help build their own 3D association whilst providing our customers with yet more high-quality entertainment content on Sky 3D, said Sky Media Director of Commercial Partnerships, Graham Appleby. "This is yet another example of innovation from Sky responding to the demands of customers and brands alike."
Nintendo UK Marketing Director, Dawn Paine explained why they chose to broadcast the event:
"Nintendo 3DS Ignition is not only a games industry first but marks the arrival of portable, glasses-free 3D gaming and entertainment. The opportunity to work with Sky to broadcast the event in 3D offers the perfect synergy in terms of helping building our credentials and bringing 3D to as many people as possible."
Catch Nintendo 3DS Ignition broadcast in high definition and in 3D this evening.
The Nintendo 3DS launches across the UK today.
