Nintendo has registered supermario4.com, prompting rumours that a sequel to NES classic Super Mario Bros. 3 could be in development.
According to IGN, the registration occurred “just days ago”, with the URL now leading to Nintendo’s country selector homepage.
Type it into your browser to take a look for yourself.
But what could the domain registration mean?
Well, Nintendo announced in January that it was working on a new 2D Mario game for the 3DS, which is due for release prior to April 2013.
But it’s also expected to be working on a Mario game for its Wii U console, which is due for release later this year.
We’d wager Super Mario 4 could be the former.
Whatever Super Mario 4 may turn out to be, though, expect to see a lot more of the red-capped plumber at E3 in June.
Company of Heroes 2, Batman: Arkham Origins, Grand Theft Auto V, Watch_Dogs, Beyond: Two Souls and Night of the Rabbit previews.
