Nintendo has said it plans to continue to support their dual-screened system the Nintendo DS after the launch of new handheld, the Nintendo 3DS.
Speaking with investors, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said they will continue tto ‘intensify legal and technical countermeasures’ whilst continuing to publish hit titles for the handheld.
"Already in next year, we will launch Nintendo 3DS, but for the existing Nintendo DS family of devices, while we’ll intensify the legal and technical countermeasures against the likes of piracy devices MagiCom, we’d like to change the situation by creating hit titles and leveraging upon the already existing huge installed base of the hardware."
Nintendo is supporting the Nintendo DS this holiday with the release of three new colours of the DSi XL and titles such as Golden Sun DS and Mario vs Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis.
The Nintendo 3DS launches in Spring 2011.
