A number of rumours have surface from Japan suggesting Nintendo has clamped down hard on gamers pirating games via flash carts on Nintendo 3DS
Reports are suggesting that the system can keep a record of a flash cart used which can be identified by retailers who can refuse trade-in.
A second report backed up by an email sent out by retailer Enterking which suggests that if a flash cart is used, a system update will be made available which bricks your Nintendo 3DS.
Here are the contents of an Enterking email which suggests these rumours to be true:
"Because of terms of agreement above, Enterking refuses to buy 3DS system with record of illegal or unapproved equipment."
"In case if you use equipment which is illegal or unapproved by Nintendo or if you do customization which is unapproved by Nintendo, there is a possibility that Nintendo 3DS become non bootable by system update."
We’ll have more on this as it develops.
