Nintendo is to phase out its Aqua Blue 3DS, the company has announced.
According to Nintendo Japan’s official hardware page (translated by Andriasang), development of the console in the Aqua Blue colour “will be ending shortly”.
No specific date for the console’s discontinuation was noted.
The console will still be available to buy in a range of other colours, though, including Ice White, Flare Red and Cosmic Black.
However, with E3 just weeks away, could the news have further implications?
Last week, we revealed that UK retailer Marks & Spencer had knocked 30% off the price of the Nintendo 3DS, speculating that the promotion could have been in an effort to clear out stock and make way for the much-rumoured 3DS Lite.
Could Nintendo be due to make an announcement on 3DS hardware revisions at E3? Watch this space.
