EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnch has recommended that Nintendo should make it a New Year’s Resolution to put plenty of elbow grease into marketing their upcoming handheld the Nintendo 3DS.
Speaking to Industrygamers.com, Divnch suggested that the success of the Nintendo 3DS in 2011 would boil down to marketing and staving off competition from iOS systems such as the iPhone and iPad.
"Should they attempt to compete against the iPhone and iPads of the world by focusing on the 3DS’s WiFi, movie, music, photo, and digital capabilities or do they stick to their tried and true method of marketing the 3DS as a superior gaming system?," explains Divnch. "Attempting to message both could create confusion or spread their marketing dollars thin."
"Whichever route Nintendo chooses, one element is certain, the success of the 3DS will come down to marketing."
Furthermore, Divnch advised the Big N continue their fight against piracy in the portable market: "To gain the trust and development budgets of third-party publishers, Nintendo must demonstrate that the piracy problems seen with the DS will not be repeated."
Other analysts have weighed in their thoughts recommending that Nintendo should cut the price of the Wii, rally support from third-parties and settle consumer’s concerns over the health damaging effects of the Nintendo 3DS.
