The fifth game in the Heracules no Eiko series, Glory of Heracles is not only the first title published by Nintendo, but the first to reach the West. With Data East relinquishing its involvement, the big N has teamed up with PAON (DK Jungle Climber, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile) to once again revisit ancient Greece and lead the eponymous protagonist through cities like Athens and Sparta as they battle enemies and add numbers to their existing statistics in your traditional JRPG manner.
Offering a choice between button and stylus control, the battle system is deep and exciting, with the opportunity to use touchscreen controls to boost spells or attacks in combat. Items gained from fallen foes often need to be buffed or fixed in nearby towns before they work to the best of their abilities. With a wealth of interesting characters and interesting use of a historical setting that's rarely seen in this kind of role-playing adventure, Nintendo are onto a winner with this one.
