Guitar Hero 2 Review - Xbox 360
The beauty of Guitar Hero is that
it’s pure adolescent wishfulfilment.
The realisation of every
teen fantasy of becoming a rock god or
goddess, perfect for anyone who ever
posed in front of their bedroom mirror
strumming a tennis racquet along to
their favourite rock anthem, making
devil horns with their hands. Or at least
it feels that way - the reality is that
you’re standing in front of your telly
pressing buttons on what looks like a
Fisher Price My First Guitar. Reality is such a bummer.
For anyone who’s never experienced
either Guitar Hero game on PlayStation
2, immediately dash down to your local
games retailer and buy this now.
Seriously. What, you want reasons? Well,
okay then.
Rock & Roll
Guitar Hero 2 is pretty much the finest
rhythm action game known to man. It
proves that you don’t need stunning
graphics and next-gen muscle to create
immersion. All you need is rock. And
then more ROCK. Through the
transformative power of music, you’re
no longer in your front room watching
a scrolling fretboard, timing presses of
coloured buttons on your X-Plorer
guitar controller. Nope, you’re on stage
in a packed arena, performing power
chords and pyrotechnic solos to an
enraptured crowd.
