1942: Joint Strike will be a blast from the past for gamers who remember the Eighties, as it's a reimagining of the 2D arcade shoot-em up so popular back in the day. Set in 1942, it's not, say Capcom, a World War 2 game, as it's not the 1942 of our reality. 1942: Joint Strike preview for Xbox 360
Capcom has a very busy year ahead of it, with an unusual plan of releasing several download-only titles, five of which are due to appear on Xbox Live throughout 2008. One of the most notable releases (certainly for those of us old enough to remember the original) is 1942: Joint Strike, a modern re-imagining of the 2D scrolling shoot-em-up, which had arcade junkies hooked in the Eighties with its addictive blasting action.

What do we know?
We had a good laugh at Capcom's attempts to distance Joint Strike from a certain conflict which took place at the same time the game is set. "The world in which 1942: Joint Strike takes place is not our own and the events that transpire are not historically accurate, nor are they intended to be."
