Burnout Paradise review Xbox 360

Burnout Paradise review Xbox 360

The Burnout series of racing games has proved enduringly popular with its mix of fast cars and big crashes, but it's been crying out for an overhaul for a while. And it's got it in this latest instalment, Burnout Paradise. In Burnout Paradise, you'll find the same fast and frenzied racing, with plenty of spectacular stunts and crashes to be had, but there's much more freedom within the gameplay, as you find yourself in a free-roaming world where you can move about from race to race at will. We've given Burnout Paradise our 360Zine Gold Award - find out more about the game in our full review now!

Burnout Paradise review for Xbox 360
There’s no stopping Burnout. The crash fixated racer that was born on PS2 has never stopped pushing its unique blend of racing and metal carnage to the public. Though the concept has always been simple, it’s proved to be everlasting. Part arcade racer, part America’s Worst Road Accidents, the Burnout series ploughed through racing trends, ignoring fashion for years like some kind of speed gobbling Status Quo tribute band and rocked its way across the world.

But there is a problem: if you own one Burnout game, you own them all. That’s not to say Burnout wasn’t great fun but it’s been in need of an overhaul for some time. Burnout Revenge was just a nicer looking compilation of all the stuff that PlayStation 2 owners had been enjoying since 2001. Luckily, Burnout Paradise changes everything and you’ll never pause to consult the rear view mirror: once you’ve played Burnout Paradise, the previous instalments seem as exciting as driving a Land Rover around an Asda car park.
