TimeShift preview Xbox 360
TimeShift preview for Xbox 360
There's always room for a good first-person shooter in our view, and TimeShift, due out on the 360 this November, looks set to be a good first-person shooter. With a sci-fi plot a B-movie would be proud of - you're back in time with experimental weapons from the future - and some neat tricks up your sleeve - you can freeze, slow and stop time - there's plenty to set TimeShift apart from the herd. We've had a chance to play TimeShift this month; read our hands on preview to find out more!

You know that, since the game's
based around Time-travellers, its
developers must have wished
for similar time-controlling abilities at
several points in its development.
Moving through two publishers,
repeatedly delayed, presumed
cancelled, radically reworked... the
ability to rewind time and do it right
first time must have seemed the most
attractive thing. Instead, they had to
persevere with their own hard work
and - finally - we got hands on with
almost complete code. The concept's a pure
B-movie science-fiction one.
Scientist with experimental armour
goes bounding across dimensions and
seems to find himself in 1939.
Everything is mysterious at this point - Half-life is a good
reference point - but
he's in the middle of a warzone
where humans are hunted by some
clearly fascist power... but a fascist
power with enormous spider monsters
of a suitable size to make Halo's Scarabs
look like Daddy Long-legs. You're in
trouble. Luckily, you have a certain
time-shifting advantage.
