While this formula is extremely predictable (and laborious to many) Eternal Sonata works a kind of magic that we've not seen for a while, to keep even the most jaded interested. The most striking thing is just how beautiful the game is. While sickeningly cute at every turn, it's also astonishingly pretty. Every character is a perfect cute girl or an over-designed Anime dandy of the highest order. Few games get their visual aesthetic this perfect, or this exquisitely rendered.
